AIRBRUSHED

AIRBRUSHED

April 4, 2017

Makeup artists have different styles.  I discovered mine a long time ago.  There is nothing I dislike more than a ‘cake’ face.  I honestly believe that anyone, no matter what their skin is like, can achieve a natural and flawless finish without looking caked in makeup.

Social media really does us no favours in the ‘cake face’ department.  Girls often look at pictures of other girls who have no texture to their skin, no redness and a seemingly perfect complexion and wonder why they can’t look that way when applying their own makeup, therefor apply more and more makeup to try and achieve the perfect looking skin they see in the photos.  It is virtually impossible without photoshop, or an airbrushing app.

Let me show you an example:

Here I am, the same picture, one airbrushed.  I am wearing concealer, highlighter and bronzer.  I have some texture to my skin, it is not by any means perfect.  The same picture on the right is airbrushed. There is no way my skin would ever look like that, even with the fullest coverage foundation. I'd still have lines around my eyes that makeup can't take away, I'd still have textured skin that foundation can't hide, because I am human, and only babies have perfect skin. The truth is, makeup is meant to enhance our natural beauty, to define our features, or to be an expression of who we are and how we want ourselves to be perceived.

What I'm trying to get at is makeup - no matter how much you apply, how full the coverage is, will never make your skin look as perfect and flawless as airbrushing will.  Girls, please don't be fooled by pictures on social media.  I love Instagram as a platform to showcase my work, my everyday life and for browsing makeup looks and trends; I also don't have anything against airbrushing, I just want everyone to be aware that what you see in pictures is not always the case in 'real life'.

Much love always,
